Amanda Malatlian was born in upstate New York, but spent most of her youth in Punta Gorda, FL. She graduated from Mars Hill College with a B.S. in Mathematics with Grades 6-12 Teacher Certification in 1996. She then began her teaching career at a private school in Orlando while attending graduate school at the University of Central Florida. The next two years she taught middle school at a charter school in Palmetto, Florida followed by six years at Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, FL. She and her husband moved to NC from Sarasota, FL in August 2006 with their two boys. She then worked at the Career Center in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools teaching AP Statistics. In 2007, she joined the faculty of Salem Academy where she currently teaches Algebra II Honors(flipping during the 2012-13 school year), AP Statistics, Advanced Functions & Modeling, and Geometry. In the past she has taught math subjects ranging from basic math and pre-algebra through Calculus and Physics in class sizes ranging from 3 to 42 students. In her extremely rare spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, staying involved with church activities, camping, reading, learning about new technologies, catching up on the news, and taking photos of her children and nature.
